Raffles College rocks China Graduate Fashion Week
After a successful show at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Australia in April, BPPR’s client Raffles College of Design and Commerce has continued to dazzle at China Graduate Fashion Week (CGFW, 15th – 20th May) in Beijing.
Held each year, CGFW is an elaborate undertaking and preview of collections from some of the hottest young design talent in the Asia-Pacific region. Parramatta-based Raffles College of Design and Commerce was the first official international university partner of CGFW; and has been part of the annual event since last year.
“Raffles is honoured to be the only Australian college to secure a placement within this prestigious event,” said Mr. Isaac Ng, CEO of Raffles Sydney. “We were thrilled to see our graduates showcased alongside emerging design stars from Chinese fashion colleges.”
The Raffles CGFW show celebrated the 12 most promising graduates from the Raffles Sydney campus, and was held on Monday 18th May. All designers presented S/S 2016 collections in a group-show format.
The Raffles designers showing at China Graduate Fashion Week included:
– Jennyfer Raquel Alonzo (Self-titled)
– Asanovski by Fatima Eunji Asanovski and Azize Eunmi Asanovski
– Ashleigh Kwong (Self-titled)
– Leah Williams (Self-titled)
– Queency Yustiawan (Self-titled)
– DE LA MOTTE by Anne de la Motte

For Jennyfer Raquel Alonzo, the trip to Beijing was extra special. Her futuristic designs were voted the best in the 2014 Raffles Graduate Show by a panel of fashion industry experts, and she was awarded a fully sponsored trip to CGFW courtesy of Raffles Sydney.
Mr. Ng commented, “Not only do we value this wonderful platform to showcase our students’ full potential, but we also encourage a cultural exchange for Chinese students wishing to study in Australia.”
Raffles students’ collections were also showcased at the Y+D Showroom, joining forces with Commerce and Institut De Mode International (Beijing Campus, previous partner of Esmod France).
“CGFW was a great chance to bring Australian fashion to the Chinese fashion crowd. Our designers benefited greatly from showcasing their work as well as sharing their valuable experiences,” said Mr. Ng.
